Included in this article will be a mindmap that I have handy, I am going to try and recreate it using just ascii chars so forgive me if its confusing. I can provide a graphic of this technique if anyone wishes... Similarly to a road map, a Mind Map will: * Give you an overview of a large subject/area. * Enable you to plan routes/make choices and let you know where you are going and where you have been. * Gather and hold large amounts of data for you. * Encourage problem solving by showing you new creative pathways. * Enable you to be extremely efficient. * Be enjoyable to look at, read, muse over and remember. * Attract and hold your eye/brain. * Let you see the whole picture and the details at the same time. * Assist YOU! Here is a basic mind map of WATER : In our example, the key concept is water, and subordinate concepts are: 1) its importance to living things; 2) its composition; and 3) its various states and the effects of those states. Because it’s a visual image, it’s much easier and quicker for many learners to grasp the idea of water and all the related concepts than it would be for them to read a description. We first subdivide it into three categories which are, , and ... we then list the topics under these categories.....
