Living each moment fully
LIVING EACH MOMENT FULLY by Mary Ann Riley The place of power is the very moment we are presently in. Living fully in each moment brings a sense of aliveness to our lives. It’s an energizing experience to live in this way. It is an act of complete trust in our self. Living fully in each moment is a way to experience the creativity that comes with spontaneity. It allows us to tap into our full potential with less hindrance from our self. Reflecting on decisions, choices you did not make that you wish you had made, how many unique opportunities did you miss? As an example, think back on how your not living fully in the moment influenced the outcome of what could have been if only you had trusted yourself and chose to live fully, in that moment. Living fully in the moment is a simple practice. It takes impassioned intention, your undivided attention, focus — not allowing our thoughts to drift, that powerful magical potion — inner discipline, trusting our full potential and the courage to act. This is one sure fire way to super-charge our lives with a powerful sense of aliveness and freshness in each moment. The multitudinous benefits of living fully in each moment are far reaching. I have noticed by practicing this understanding that any sense of regret ceases to exist. We will actually carry less emotional baggage around in our lives, which in and of itself is life changing. We will feel much better, happier, and more confident about ourselves by living in this way. I have discovered that any stress, experienced fully in the moment, will more likely disappear quickly. I have found this approach a healthier way to live than resisting or rebelling against the stress in an effort to release it. When we are open to fully experiencing the feelings, sensations of pre-conditional love, joy, compassion, inner peace, and forgiveness within each moment they arise, we offer ourselves, others and all that is, powerful healing energy. Now, practice holding this high vibration of energy as long as you can, breathing into the sensation and feeling the increase of energy. It takes trust, confidence and courage to support us in this rewarding way of experiencing our lives. By having the courage to live in this way we trust ourselves to communicate with others in a healthy fashion. Instead of regretting that we did not address something, within the moment, we now allow our trust, confidence and courage to support us in our action. Within each moment we can be watchful of when our focus starts to shift to replaying old tapes of earlier moments and/or our yesterday expperiences or perhaps leaping into future moments. Replaying our yesterdays can keep us from experiencing our lives fresh and new each moment. Living in anticipation of what tomorrow may bring can blind us to the beauty of what’s happening today. Inner discipline plays a key role in this magical endeavor. It will help us maintain our intention, attention and focus. Choosing to live fully in each moment will truly give our life a feeling of magic. Doors open and we, without hesitation, are there to walk through. Try this fun experiment. This exercise can take five minutes or longer, provided you have the time. When you awaken in the morning before getting out of bed harmonize your energy. Simply begin to he aware of your breathing. Breathe deeply. Exhale completely. Practice inhaling deeply to the count of four and exhaling completely, to the count of four. Visualize and feel the sensations of energy moving into and through your feet, ankles, calves, knees, thighs, your legs, hips and buttocks, abdomen, up your back and chest, up into your neck, face and head. Be aware of the link between your breathing, the sensations and the movement of energy. Now, continue to fully feel the sensations of energy filling your head and moving into your shoulders, down your arms, into your hands; feeling increased sensations of energy in the palms of your hands and throughout your entire body. Your entire body is now feeling the full sensation of life force harmonizing energy. This is a great way to super-change yourself with energy before you arise to start your new day. What a remarkable difference this simple exercise can make in your approach to the day. This super-charge of harmonizing energy supports my intention to do my best to live fully in the moment throughout the day. It’s an uplifting way to start the day. I place my intention for the day yet I remain open, receptive and spontaneous. Another way to support ourselves in living fully in each moment is to write down our ideal way of living and then write down how we are actually living right now. I did this for every area of my life. I wrote an ideal list and an actual list and then compared them. For example: I wrote an ideal life experience and actual (present day) life experience in the area of: Relationship with myself, relationship with others, career, physical health, emotional health, spiritual well being, finances, self-esteem... You can add on any other areas to include. What I discovered was that I was not living as fully as I am capable of in the present moment but was instead living tainted by the remnants of my past moments and at times living somewhere in my projected future. This rather abrupt awareness woke me up. My intention, so passionate to live my ideal, is interconnected to my living fully fresh and new in each moment. I instantaneously began living my ideal in the now and had the trust, confidence and courage to act. Doors and windows of opportunity flew open and I walked through.
